Notion Shipped Like Crazy During My Holidays

how am I supposed to keep up?

Hey — it’s James

I’ve been on holiday for the past two weeks — which explains the short break in your 3-2-1: Notion! inbox delivery.

Naturally, while I was off hiking in the mountains, Notion decided it was the perfect time to roll out a bunch of new updates and features.

I’ll start with my favorites below, but there’s more to come — I’ll be sharing the rest in this and upcoming issues. Stay tuned!

In Today’s Email 👀

  • Notifications on Date properties

  • Database Row Permissions 🤯

  • Notion in Indonesian, Thai, and Vietnamese

  • Notion Severance video

  • Notion Job Posts

A WORD FROM THE TEAM

👀 A quick personal note

Over the past few years, I've poured a lot of heart into building this Notion template business and writing this newsletter — and it’s grown into something I’m really proud of. That said, it’s time for me to pass the torch to someone who can keep growing it (and ideally, love it as much as I do)

If you or someone you know might be interested in taking over a solid, trusted, and high-margin digital business — complete with the best Notion templates on the market, a warm audience, and a newsletter you’re currently reading — feel free to reply to this or email me at [email protected]

And of course, no changes on your end: new templates, updates, and emails are still rolling in as usual 🚀

3 Tips / Updates

1/ Notifications on Date properties

Not only have I been waiting for this feature forever — but so have many of my clients. You can now set default reminders on date properties, globally. (Previously, you had to set them manually at the item level every time.)

The options are the same as before: on the day of the event, 1 day before, 2 days before, or 1 week before.

One of those features you wish had been there from the start — but hey, better late than never 😉

2/ Database Row Permissions 🤯

If it had already shipped, this would’ve taken the top spot — because it’s huge. Possibly the second most requested feature ever (right after offline mode), if not the most: database row permissions.

Why does this matter?

Because it finally allows us to share only part of a database — without exposing the whole thing.

Say you’re an agency managing tasks for multiple clients. You have a master Tasks database. Right now, you can’t just share each client’s tasks with them — you’d be giving them access to everyone’s tasks. Not ideal.

The workaround? Creating one database per client, which breaks centralization and makes your life harder.

With row-level permissions, you’ll be able to maintain a single centralized database, and securely share just the relevant entries with each person or client.

Status?

It’s not out yet — but it’s in closed beta. No public ETA yet, but it’s expected within a few weeks.

It’s already the most celebrated feature drop in the Notion Ambassador Slack 🎉

3/ Notion in Indonesian, Thai, and Vietnamese

Indonesian, Thai, and Vietnamese friends — Notion is now available in your language! 🎉

Big news that’ll make it much easier for non-English speakers to jump in and make the most of it.
