Notion’s Most Stupid/Genius Feature?

you’ll never guess what it is 👀

In partnership with

Hey — it’s Rames

I haven’t felt super inspired this week when it comes to a newsletter topic. We had friends over—which meant I worked little and enjoyed much—but now I’m left feeling a bit tired. Still, I’m committed to shipping this newsletter every week, so I need a topic.

But what should I write about? A better question might be: How do I usually find topics?

Let’s try to answer that.

There are three ways I find ideas for this newsletter—I call it the triple-S methodology:

In Today’s Email 👀

  • Decimals for numbers

  • Flappy mail

  • N°1 tool people switch to

  • Notion Analytics

  • Complete Hiring System

3 Tips / Updates

1/ Decimals for numbers

Decimals for Number properties is a feature we've been waiting for so long that someone even made an April Fool's joke about it 2 years ago. Well, this time Notion went ahead and added the feature last week 🚀

You can now select how many numbers after the decimal point you want Notion to display, reducing the need for complex formulas.

How to access? Click your property → Edit property → Decimal places

It works with Number properties but also formulas and rollups when they are of type "Number"

2/ Inbox 0 = Flappy Mail

While most of us still don't have access to Notion Mail, engineers seem to be working on very important features. Aka, what to display when Inbox 0 is reached? 🤔

Joke aside, I'd love this feature as much as it would destroy my productivity… What do you say: genius or stupid?

3/ N°1 tool people switch to

Notion is the #1 tool people switch to, and #2 in project management overall — after Jira, before Asana/Linear, based on insights from 6,500 tech professionals from Lenny’s latest newsletter survey.

2 Resources

1/ Notion Analytics

Keeping track of how things are going in Notion is super helpful for making better decisions. With built-in analytics and the option to connect Google Analytics, you can easily see how your pages, workspace, and public content are doing—all in one place!

I wrote a detailed blog post about Analytics in Notion, where you’ll learn about:

  • Notion Page Analytics

  • Workspace Analytics

  • Notion Site Analytics

  • Google Analytics Integration

  • Extended Analytics Options

2/ Complete Hiring System in Notion

If you're a business looking to streamline your hiring process/system, know that you can (almost) completely replace Greenhouse with Notion, especially with the new features such as Notion Sites and Notion Forms.
