Notion’s Most Overlooked Feature?
scheduling, mcp, tabs, make with notion 2025 & emails

Hey — it’s James
For the past year and a half, I’ve been reading nothing but fiction. At first, it felt strange—like I wasn’t really learning anything. No “How to X” or “The Power of Y.”
Don’t get me wrong, fiction isn’t new to me. In fact, up until my early twenties, it was all I ever read. Back then, non-fiction was the one that felt strange. But between 2019 and up to the end of 2023, non-fiction—especially self-help—completely took over…

3 Tips / Updates
1/ Scheduling
Remember Calendly and Cal.com? Those scheduling tools are now a thing of the past.
With Notion Calendar's new Scheduling feature, you can handle all your scheduling needs right here.

Here's how:
Click "Scheduling" in your left sidebar
Select between:
Create recurring link (Calendly replacement)
Create one-off link (also called Share availability)
Customize settings in the right sidebar (URL, times, duration, expiration date, booking window, etc.)
Click "Create" to save
You can create multiple recurring links for different types of projects and durations—and easily access them anytime by clicking "Scheduling" again.

2/ Notion MCP
MCPs (Message Content Providers) are the latest trend in tech. If you haven't heard of MCPs before, they're essentially smarter APIs powered by large language models (LLMs).
Notion has just released and open-sourced their own MCP, allowing developers to create more sophisticated integrations with their tools.
We’ve open-sourced our MCP (Model Context Protocol) — now available on GitHub.
Plug it into your favorite client and start building richer AI integrations with Notion in minutes ✨

1/ History of Email
I really enjoyed this little Twitter thread on the history of email. People have been declaring "email is dead ☠️" for the past decade—yet it's more widely used than ever.
🧵
📬 Mail Doesn’t Die. It Adapts.
Across decades, communication platforms have come and gone (we miss you Friendster, ICQ, BBS).
But email?
It’s still here—quietly evolving alongside us.

2/ Tabs—The Most Overlooked Feature?
Tabs had a major launch moment...until they (almost) disappeared from everyone's radar. William Nutt—OG Notion Expert—deconstructs how to use the tabs feature, using his wealth tracker as an example. The killer use case? Changing layouts for all database items at once—something that wasn't possible before with database templates.
