Hide Content Inside a Notion Block

+ hidden groups, Calendar status property, & Claude inside Notion

Hey — it’s James

3-2-1: Notion! is just me sharing updates and tips about a tool I genuinely love. But on Make With James, I’m sharing parts of myself—how I see the world, what I think, what I doubt, what I’ve lived. Concrete parts of my identity are shipped every Friday.

Which often makes me uncomfortable:

My biggest fear with this newsletter is…

In Today’s Email 👀

  • Hidden groups truly hidden

  • Notion Calendar status property

  • Claude Sonnet & Opus 4 in Notion

  • How to hide content inside a block

  • Set up and use AI meeting notes < 2min

  • What can’t AI do?

3 Tips / Updates

1/ Hide groups for real

Hidden groups are now truly hidden! This feature has bothered me since I first started using Notion, so I'm thrilled they finally changed it.

When you enable the "Hide empty groups" option and there are no items to display, your database will look like this:

The "All groups are hidden" text is clickable and takes you straight to the database's grouping settings. You can also still add new items using the blue New button.

2/ Notion Calendar Status property

If you have integrated a Notion database into your Notion Calendar and your database has a Status property, you can now view and edit status options directly inside Notion Calendar!

They're gradually rolling out all Notion properties inside NC, which is super exciting.

Which property do you think is next? 👀

3/ Sonnet & Opus 4 in Notion

A quick reminder that Claude Sonnet 4 & Claude Opus 4 are available as LLM models inside Notion AI. You can select them from the dropdown menu next to the Ask section on your Home page.
