Hey — it’s Rames
Yesterday was Blue Monday, also known as the most depressing day of the year. Well, not for me. We just returned to Tamraght, Morocco, and life has been at its best.
Surfing has been incredible these past few days, with perfect waves every day.
The cat we tried to tame, Desertus, came back to say hello and now lives with us completely.
The weather has been exceptional, going from -3°C in Paris to 30°C here in Tamraght.
The only depressing thing that happened is that my leash went through my board and kind of broke it. But maybe that's a sign I must change it. By the way, the only Blue Monday I know is this New Order masterpiece.
And before we begin... This week's sponsor...

3 Tips
1/ Project management like a Certified pro
Tackle your Tasks in Notion like a certified pro with this easy but powerful setup 👇🏼

All Notion Certified Consultants have their own methods, frameworks, and ways they like to implement Notion. But if there's one thing where everybody aligns, it's the way to set up Projects & Tasks databases.
The magic pill behind it? 'Self-referencing filtering'.
Thankfully, Josh Redd (far from being mentioned for the first time in this newsletter) made a really useful Twitter thread that goes through all the steps to create the simplest project management system. And because it's Notion, you can, of course, customize it and add more properties that are relevant to your use case. But you'll have a solid foundation.
2/ Auto-fill Notion properties
Did you know there's a way to automatically assign certain properties to newly created items, without using automations? It's the simplest trick, but it makes a real difference and will save you a ton of time.
Just add... a filter.
It works with anything — dates, relation properties, (multi-)selects, etc. Filter by the element you want to auto-fill with, and let Notion do its magic.
3/ Hide comments & backlinks on a Notion page
Quick tip for minimalists: you can hide backlinks and top-level comments on any Notion page. Simply go to your page settings (click the 3 dots at the top-right of your page) → Customize page. You can then switch "Top-level page discussion" to off, and Backlinks also to off.
2 Resources
1/ How to make a Notion website
A while ago, I wrote a tutorial on how to build your own Notion website. While I focused on personal websites, the framework can be applied to all types of sites.
The blog post covers:
How to lay out your Notion page
Design tips
How to publish the website
Notion web builders that can help enhance your website (custom CSS, domains, passwords, etc.)
3 free Notion templates to get you started
If you don't have one, I highly encourage you to start your personal website. It's the best way to dive into the depths of the internet and have a place that's truly your own to connect with the world 🌏
2/ NotionHero — Supercharge Your Notion
NotionHero is an all-in-one app that extends the capabilities of Notion. It allows you to supercharge your Notion workspace by adding features such as charts, embeds, forms, and widgets (custom buttons).
With NotionHero, you can embed Notion pages into other websites, visualize Notion charts and embed them into webpages or directly into Notion, create custom widgets for your Notion pages, and soon, create functional forms from Notion tables.
NotionHero offers different pricing plans, including a free plan with certain limitations and paid plans with additional features and customization options. It is currently in beta and new features are being added regularly.
